Are Christians making an impact for Jesus in this world?

People would ask ‘why do you keep preaching to people who have no interest in God, even though you can see they are never going to change their minds’? To most people it’s foolish to have Christians on internet forums or blogs defending Christianity and preaching the Gospel. They see it as a waste of time, as most of the time Christians are outnumbered hugely and ridiculed for their effort.

It’s no secret that Christians only have the bible as their main source of information, and they would dismiss any argument based solely on what the bible says; especially if it’s the clear on the matter. To some people this is foolishness and it gives them credence to the fact that Christianity is non-logical and has no interest in intellect. But they don’t understand that the bible is the most powerful book in the world. It is the only book in the world that has the power to change the course of the whole world. No wonder atheists are adamant that it should be banned from all schools and public institutions. Most importantly the bible is the only book that is able to act as a mirror, and has the ability to cause people to repent from all unrighteousness. In the book of Hebrews, the bible is described as follows: “For the word of God is living and active. Sharper than any double-edged sword, it penetrates even to dividing soul and spirit, joints and marrow; it judges the thoughts and attitudes of the heart” (Hebrews 4:12). Do you know of any book that “judges the thoughts and attitudes of the heart”? If you read the bible, you would be convicted of your sins and be compelled to repent, no wonder atheists find the bible to be offensive and Christians use it as their main weapon.

But the reason I’m more convinced that any kind of biblical preaching is not worthless, is because of the non-tangible impact it has over the world. Is it worthwhile for people to continue preaching in Europe when it’s the fastest growing secular continent in the world? I say it’s worthwhile now more than ever, and the impact is not inferior as compared to the days of John Wesley, George Whitefield, Charles Spurgeon, etc. Yes you would probably still have dwindling numbers of Christians while atheists increase, but the impact of that preaching would still be great. People look at how evil the world has become, and they wonder if it’s worth it to pray to God to heal world. Such people don’t understand how such prayers have kept the world from getting even worse, and without them we would be living in anarchy.

Every Christian has weapons-of-mass-destruction in their disposal, but only few Christians are aware of this fact. Describing these weapons, a man who brought Roman Empire to its knees through preaching, Apostle Paul said: “The weapons we fight with are not the weapons of the world. On the contrary, they have divine power to demolish strongholds. We demolish arguments and every pretension that sets itself up against the knowledge of God, and we take captive every thought to make it obedient to Christ” (2 Corinthians 10:4-5).

Paul makes four declarations:

  • Our weapons are not of this world

When atheists use their experts on certain fields, or some research conducted to fight their battles, Christians use the bible that is thought to be out-dated and out of touch with the current world. They are right because the bible is not of this world. Instead of holding protests to make a point, Christians rather use their knees to change the world.

  • Power to demolish strongholds

Whenever a Christian preaches or prays, there are unseen strongholds that are being demolished. The same strongholds that are responsible for all evils of this world and atheism tremble when a Christian write a small post on an internet forum or blog. These strongholds can’t stand the preaching of the bible, that’s why they censor it in whatever possible way.

  • Demolition of arguments against the knowledge of God

I have never seen an argument that can be factually used against God, even though atheists keep referring to ‘contradictions’ in the bible. All arguments I know have been refuted before, and they are being recycled to deceive those who are less knowledgeable on the matter. Whenever a Christian engages in a debate, he demolishes all arguments that are against the knowledge of God.

  • Making thoughts obedient to Christ

Christians don’t only engage people on an intellectual level, but they also engage them on an emotional level. The reason most atheists belittle or ridicule Christians during debates on the net is because Christians take captive every thought they have to make it obedient to Jesus. By engaging with atheists, Christians are not only making an intellectual appeal for Jesus, but they are also making an emotional appeal that atheists can’t run away from regardless of their will to. That’s why most atheists are offended when you preach to them, because they know a Christian take captive their thoughts and lead them to Christ.

You may be ignoring Jesus’ call for you to follow Him because you felt Christianity doesn’t have an impact in this life, but I can assure you that being a Christian is the most influential life you can have in this world. Not only are you demolishing strongholds, but you would be part of the everlasting Government that will rule this world. Get on board!
