What is falsely called knowledge!

One of the most frustrating moments for a Christian is to see people being deceived into believing what is falsely called knowledge, and as such they are lead to their spiritual demise. It is mostly teenagers who fall prey to this tactic, where lies and unsubstantiated statements are repeated so many times that people start believing that they are facts. A great number of people who have rejected God have done so because they fell prey to this tactic of twisting misinformation and teaching it as knowledge.

It is this very reason that triggered Apostle Paul, a wise man who had engaged in debates against many theist and atheist leaders, to give a directive to a young man called Timothy. He said to him: “turn away from ……. opposing ideas of what is falsely called knowledge, which some have professed and in so doing have wandered from the faith (1 Timothy 6:20-21). He warned him that there is what is called knowledge but it doesn’t hold the truths that knowledge has to hold, and the purpose of this kind of knowledge is to make a person wander from the faith.

I know of a man who writes about the kind of knowledge Paul warned Timothy against. This man, John W Loftus, said recently: “I don’t really care whether or not some kind of god exists. I deny the Christian God. Once I can provoke doubt about that kind of God then the other gods will go by the wayside for the same reasons……My goal is not to win debates but to change minds…..” Did you see that? He said “I don’t really care whether or not some kind of god exists”. Unfortunately our world is full of people like Loftus, who are known to be some source of knowledge, yet their intention is not to debate issues but to deceive those who listen to them. I have recently debated some atheists who write about history without providing necessary sources for their historical claims. They claim Jesus never existed in the 1st century, even though I have quoted a 1st century historian who wrote about Jesus. As it is with most misinformation cases, they had a lot of people cheering for them. This reminds me of a book by Richard Dawkins called “God delusion’, which prompted Christian authors to write over 5 books replying to it with a view to expose his misinformation. But the message of Apostle Paul is as relevant to you today as it was relevant to Timothy – “turn away from opposing ideas of what is falsely called knowledge”.

All you need to do to notice this kind of knowledge, the one that’s meant to deceive you, is by asking questions. You would most likely be ignored or personally attacked before you get the answers to your questions. Ask any atheist who believes in Theory of Evolution if they were created by simple organisms, and they will ignore you. Reality is atheists are people who are not prepared to question Theory of Evolution, for fear of their fallacy being evident to them.

Are you prepared to question the knowledge that you are being given? Then send me your questions to sello.rasephei@webmail.co.za, and I will post my answer on this blog.

One of the most frustrating moments for a rational human being is to see people being deceived into believing what is falsely called knowledge, and as such they are led to their the emotional, spiritual and pecuniary poverty of religious belief. It is mostly the gullible, the hurt, the innocent and the vulnerable who are subjected to this tactic, being fed with lies and unsubstantiated “facts” about a god who claims to love them so much that he will even provide for all their needs, according to HIS riches, which are greater than theirs. When, as invariably happens, the supply from this god is lacking, the reason given is that the new believer is at fault, somehow. Evangelists and apologists are so skilful at the twisting of words and the selective interpretation of carefully chosen “scriptures” that hearers are persuaded away from the path of reason, logic and common sense and come to believe, or continue to believe, in a world of unkept promises, unseen magic and absent deities.

This tactic of repetitious indoctrination is so commonplace that temples and churches daily practise it and millions of unsuspecting people come to believe it and are fleeced by its practitioners.

A great number of people who have accepted God have done so because they fell prey to this tactic of twisting misinformation and teaching it as knowledge.
Only when the promises of religion are subject to the full weight of the law of the land, alongside all other products and services which are sold to the public, will the world begin to be freed from the hatred and duplicity of believers and preachers and come to see the act of obeisance to, and dependence upon an uncaring, and likely non-existent, god for the foolish act of betrayal of the species that it is.

  2. Duplicity is a nice movie,i like the story and also the actors ,”.

Inchalla, a few questions for you: are there mss copies of the New Testament? are there early historians of the Christian religion? How many? who are they? are they purely myths? actors? how can you know?
